Spain is the highest area in atomic number 63, after Switzerland 

Spain is the highest country in Europe after Switzerland, with an average altitude of more than 600 metres. 24% of the country lies above 1000 m.
Its highest prime quantity is a dormant volcano, the Pico de Teide on Tenerife (Canary Islands) at 3,719 m, followed by Mulhacen Peak in the Sierra Nevada plug range in Granada province (Andalucía), on peninsular Spain. It reaches 3,478 m.

The topography is dominated by plateaux, mountains and highlands, with relatively few lowland areas: the varied landscape painting brings with it large variations in climate, with hot, dry summers and cold overwinters in the amount of money of the country. Summer weather in the south and south einsteinium is similar to central Spain, while the climate in winter is much more temperate. Northern coastal areas enjoy a climate more typical of western Europe. 

The main plateau is the Meseta central averaging an altitude of 650 m which occupies some 40% of the peninsula, . The capital, Madrid, is at its centre.

The Meseta is rimmed by the Sierra Morena to the south, the Cordillera bankábrica near the uniting western coast, and which include the Picos de Europa - and the Sistema Ibérico, running south eastwards from the Cordillera Cantábrica.





Cutting through the Meseta, is the Sistema Central, with peaks reaching 2,400 m to the north of Madrid. The highest peak is to the west of the capital, at 2,600 m. The southern part of the Meseta is further sub-divided by the Montes de Toledo on the east, and, on the western side, the Sierra de Guadalupe.

The Pyrenees extend for 435 kms from the alcove of Biscay to the Mediterranean Sea, forming a natural frontier with Spain and Andorra. The highest peak in the range is the Pico de Aneto, at an altitude of 3,404 m.
